Death is A Friend

Death is a friend

with no secrets

a patient listener

a loving parent.

The last face you’ll see

the last kiss on your lips

the dirt you crawl upon

the dirt you will be part of.

Life is a wrecker

a street magician

a smoke in the dark

a lie extended.

A bird in a cage

a broken window

a rocking chair

of shallow dreams.

As the tree loses its leaves,
I’m departing from my body
I  need legs no longer
for I won’t walk again

my arms refuse to move
since they waved goodbye already

My eyes won’t see anymore
though my voice will keep speaking

as long as you remember me.
